"The town I live in Delaware is a small beach community that has long history as being a destination for gay men and women in the middle Atlantic region. It also has a large retired gay population that live here year round. Many of these men, who are well into their 60's or older, are partnered and have been so for decades. For me as a gay man in my 30's I had never been around such a concentration of older gay men who are in long established relationships. Many of these couples have been together before the Stonewall riots of '69 and have lived through the AIDS epidemic of the 80's and 90's and have essentially been married long before the idea of gay marriage ever seemed legally possible. The couple I photographed, Bob and Terry, have been together for 32 years now."
